Triumph Tiger 1050
After trying out the new Tiger 800XC in May 2011 but deciding it was just like my F800GS but with a smoother, more powerful engine, I tried a few more bikes from the Triumph range.
The decision came down to the Tiger 1050 or the Speed Triple. The Tiger was very much the "Head" choice, a great allrounder, whereas the Speed Triple was the "Heart" choice, a full on street fighter!
But then I realised that keeping my GS was really the "Head" choice, so the Tiger was in fact the compromise between the two, the great 1050cc three cylinder motor (albeit with less power 115 bhp v 140 bhp) road tyres and fully adjustable suspension but with a comfy riding position, weather protection and luggage.
Also the luggage was a bonus, as Triumph were running a deal where you got panniers and top box thrown in for free, not to mention a taller touring screen, hand guards and a centre stand. All in £1250 of extras for nothing.
I also got a pair of black anodised, fully adjustable machined alloy levers (Triumph branded Pazzo's) thrown in for free too.
So on the 28th June 2011, in torrential rain and thunderstorms, I took delivery from Pure Triumph in Woburn.
It's still early days but it looks like I made a great choice, also discovered a good on-line community of Tiger owners on www.tiger1050.com
