With increased risk of flooding and extremes of weather and in circumstances where remote locations or uneven terrain are involved the emergency and voluntary services often find themselves without the correct resources.
4X4 Response groups, by one name or another, formally and informally, across the UK have voluntarily provided valuable support in these circumstances. In all weathers, at all times of the day and night 365 days a year.
As an Emergency Planner I was aware of the good work being done across the Country by these groups but was also concious that no such group existed in Hertfordshire. During 2006 I decided to do something about this and started on the considerable background work required to set up a group. It wasn't until October 2007 that the group was formerly launched as HERTFORDSHIRE 4x4 RESPONSE
